Lida Evmorfia Vagiaki

PhD

Lida E. Vagiaki is PhD candidate at the Department of Biology at the University of Crete, Greece.  She received her Batchelor’s Degree in Materials Science and Technology, at the University of Crete, in 2018. During her undergraduate studies she joined the Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine Laboratory and investigated the biocompatibility and osteogenic potential of zirconia and magnesia ceramic scaffolds. In 2019 she received her Master’s Degree in Nanomedicine hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, at the Medical School and the Department of Pharmacy. Her master thesis was implemented at the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), at the Institute of Chemical Biology. During her thesis she contributed in projects that aimed in the synthesis of novel organic nanoparticles that act as contrast agents for theranostic applications. Currently, her scientific interest focuses on the development of an organic bioelectronic sensing device that studies the function of neural networks in epileptic seizures with a combination of imaging and electrophysiological recordings.
