The Hellenic Institute of Advanced Studies (HIAS) presented the 1st Photonics Hellenic Symposium (PHOS), which successfully took place in October at Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), in Heraklion, Crete. It was an incredible opportunity for participants to explore the latest advancements in photonics and share knowledge with leading scientists.

PHOS brought together distinguished members from the Hellenic diaspora and Greece, aiming for two primary goals:

Presentations: Greek scientists showcased technical developments in photonics, setting the foundation for an annual gathering with international participation.

Photonics Community: The event marked the beginning of a photonics society in Greece, with the election of a founding board and the awarding of the Soukoulis Prize.
